Allergy and contact lenses – that itches!

Glasses or contact lenses – it is not easy for people with poor eyesight, especially as soon as pollen begins. Contact lenses are usually an elegant solution – if it weren’t for the allergies in spring and summer and the associated problems such as itchy eyes, red eyes, inflammation and contact lens intolerance.

Millions of people in Germany (14 years and older ) wear contact lenses (source: Statista ). However, almost every fifth in Germany suffers from hay fever and other allergies. More than half of the hay fever patients have symptoms only or first on the eye. So they have to fight with red, burning, itchy or even swollen eyes. For many people, contact lenses are no longer an option.

One solution is to bring advice to one of the EuroEyes eye clinics. A detailed examination of the eyes can provide information about the causes and treatment options for allergies.

However, laser eye surgery is often the method of choice. It finally eliminates the visual defect and thus makes it possible to dispense with contact lenses. The symptoms of allergies are not gone, but the problems with contact lenses and glasses are a thing of the past.
