The main goal is to prevent the spread of the corona virus and to enable the healthcare system to effectively and successfully contain and treat existing infections. The new regulations stipulate that everyday life (“normal work”) is not overridden, but that clear restrictions and safety measures must be observed.
As a rule, the healing process of an operation can be assessed as unproblematic in a healthy, immunocompetent patient; the probability of the eye being involved is – as far as is known – extremely unlikely. Postoperative aftercare is a medical service and is guaranteed during our office hours.
Understandably, however, we cannot predict the risk of coronavirus infection. Proven cases of infection cannot and must not be treated by us, this requires isolation in the hospital, with ophthalmological care there if necessary.
We are currently asking our patients to include their individual discretion in deciding whether to perform an operation.
A large number of shops and playgrounds are closed. Meetings at church services or similar, in clubs, sport and leisure facilities, adult education centers, music schools and other public and private educational institutions are prohibited.
Domestic bus travel and tourist accommodation are prohibited, borders with neighboring countries are checked, and some are closed, while supermarkets and other shops serving people are left open. Goods traffic remains unaffected – even at the borders.
Supermarkets, beverage stores, pharmacies, medical supply stores, drugstores, petrol stations, banks, savings banks, post offices, hairdressers, opticians or wholesalers continue to offer their services, so that the supply of the population is guaranteed. Medical practices are open, according to visit regulations, hospitals, preventive and rehabilitation facilities and nursing homes are to be issued.
Places of public life, bars, clubs, discotheques as well as pubs, theaters, operas, concert halls and museums as well as trade fairs, exhibitions, cinemas, leisure and animal parks, amusement arcades, casinos, brothels and betting shops are closed. For cafeterias, restaurants and hotels the risk of spreading the corona virus is to be reduced by regulating the distance between tables and regulating the number of visitors.
